He is survived by: his wife Cheri Fahey; his children, Jacque, Jami Kastning (Michael) of Elk Point, SD and Jacquelyn Erickson (Gerald) of Jamestown, ND.; his grandchildren, Julia Lovell, Mitchell Lovell, Emily Goertz of Minot, ND, Abigail, Nora, Patrick Kastning, Elk Point, Bonus, April Zimney (Adam) of Jamestown, Nick Erickson (Kala) of Jamestown, Allison Erickson of Jamestown, Claire Erickson of Jamestown, Meredith O'Brien (Tim) of Jamestown and Christopher Erickson of Jamestown; his siblings, Lois Daniels, Cathie Carlson (Dennis), Cindy Amick, Tim Goertz (Theresa), Rita Blanchard (Brian) and Keith Goertz; his sisters-in-law, Barb Palensky (Fred) and Chrissy Fahey (Bruce Thomas); and his great grandchildren, Oliver Brown, Octavia Goertz, Abram, Alexandra Zimney and Rhett Kastning.
During Covid-19, Jim continued teaching long distance learning for the elevator apprentices.
