He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvel Jr. Sheppard and Deloris Sheppard (Voeltz); his sons, Marvel Sheppard and James Sheppard; and his brothers, Meril Sheppard, Douglas Sheppard and Stephen Lopez.

He is survived by: his sisters, Denise Sheppard Miller (Stephen) and Phyllis Smedshammer (Ivan). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
