With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary H. Vondal of Fargo, North Dakota, who passed away on December 8, 2021 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles and Celina; her former husband Alexander Vondal, Jr.; her daughter Loretta Jean Carlson; and her siblings, Percy Dauphanais, Odell Dauphanais, Edward Dauphanais, Larry Baker and Doreen Mager.

She is survived by: her children, Cameron Vondal (June), Deb Broderson, Rose Knudtson and Patricia Vondal; her grandchildren, Ronald Broderson, Danny Vondal, Tina Vondal, Dillon Vondal and Michelle VanHeel; and her siblings, Dileen Hess and Doris Mathuews. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren.

She had a strong Catholic faith and regularly attended St. Anthony of Padua in Fargo, up until the pandemic started.

“Mary was a sweet, gentle, kind person. Teachers are not supposed to have favorites, but being human, I have to admit Mary was one of mine when she got her GED at Fargo Adult Learning Center. For many years later, I would stop in at the Holiday Inn gift shop just to say hello to Mary and catch up on Mary, her daughter Rose and her grandson Danny who were also my students. I am certain her family will miss her but should be proud of what a great person she was. My condolences go out to them.”
