He was predeceased by: his parents, Sander and Lucille; and his wife JoAnne. He is survived by: his sons, Christopher and Paul; his close friend Joanne Drenkow; his sister Jan; his brother-in-law Dave Linnihan; his daughter-in-law Diana; his granddaughters, Kathryn, Frida and Christine Nolasco; and his brother-in-law Jim Knoll. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family greatly appreciates donations made to these charities in J. Philip "Phil" Johnson 's name.
