He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Fitzgerald and Helen Fitzgerald (Lenzen); and his brothers, Edward and John. He is survived by: his wife Donna Mae Jensen; his sister Helen Jean Puvogel of Fargo; and his close friend Clay Whittlesey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Saturday, May 24th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A prayer was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Boulger Funeral Home (123 10th St S, Fargo, ND 58103). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, May 24th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul's Newman Center (1141 N University Dr, Fargo, ND 58102).
