He is survived by: his mother Mary Newman (Harwood); his wife Audrey; his children, Kyle Newman (Tara), Matthew Newman (Amber), Rachel Ebeling (Chris), Amy Clark of Reno, NV, Ty Newman (Sacha) of Minnetrista, MN, Jake Newman, Russell "Boomer" Newman II (Laura) and William Wadsworth of Scottsdale, AZ; his grandchildren, Bernadette Newman, Thomas Newman, Amelia Newman, James Newman, Peter Newman, Clare Newman, Mary Newman, Edward Newman, Noah Newman, Zayn Newman, VerLynn Newman, Ava Ebeling, Cooper Ebeling, Gunnar Ebeling, Colton Ebeling, Victoria Newman, Violet Newman and Valentina Newman; and his sisters, Kari Ness (Leo), Nancy Erickson (Scott), Ruth Tang (Sheldon) of Minneapolis, MN, Cheryl Olson (Brent) and Billie Jo Newman.

Russ served on multiple boards including Easter Seals and Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation.
