He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Kumm and Doris Kumm (Lebert); his sister Roxanne Kerkvliet; his parents-in-law, Gary, Myrtis Clark, Maynard, Jean Helgaas and Julie Helgaas; and his nephew Philip Lutz.
He is survived by: his wife Ann; his children, Katrina Kumm (Eileen Kelly) of Minneapolis, MN, Allison Bergquist (Casey) of Hawley, MN, Mallory Kumm of Minneapolis, MN, Michael Sitzmann of Tappen, ND, Hannah Smith (Sawyer) of Bismarck, ND, Katie LeCompte (Ben) of Vermillion, SD, Chelsey Sitzmann (Caitlin) of Farmington, MN and Kim Salentine (Parker) of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren, Evelyn Jain, Francis, Grady, Scottie, Gio, Rylynn, Benji, Azat, Brooks, Palmer, Banks, Harper and Finnick; his former wife Nancy Nixon; and his siblings, Kathy Bierscheid (Gene), Deb Lutz (Larry), Kelly Kumm (Judy) and Marty Kumm (Linda). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
