Gerald E. Nord Sr. Obituary
Gerald E. Nord, Sr., age 72 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.
Gerald E. Nord was born January 25 1950 in Coos Bay, OR, the son of Benjamin and Helen (Wolfgram) Nord. He grew up and attended school there. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and served in Vietnam. Following his discharge he lived in California, Grafton and Wisconsin. He returned to Grafton in the fall of 2021.
Despite all of his hardships, Jerry remained kind-spirited and true to his core. He was a Vietnam veteran and this showed through his strength, resiliency and camaraderie that he shared with all who loved him. He was unwavering and always quick to bring a dull moment to life with his jokes or witty banter. Those who knew him will remember him as larger than life and as the ever-evolving constant in an otherwise messy and chaotic world. He will be dearly missed.
Jerry is survived by his children: Cara Nord, Appleton, WI; Sara Nord, Grafton, ND; Gerald E. Nord, Jr., Waupaca, WI; Jeremy (April) Nord, WI; Emily Kasprick; Waupaca, WI; his mother, Helen Nord, Grafton, ND; brother Allan Nord, OR; 17 grandchildren: Timothy (Ashley) Grudzielauck, Collin Schmieding, Alyson Noak, Austin Noak, Cia Durrant, Donovan Kasprick, Patience Nord, Korissa (James) Brando, Trisha (Justice) Miles, Brooke (Brandon) Slick, Jace Nord, Derrick Nord, Donovan Winkler, Meridian Winkler, Bryce Winkler, and Amythest Nord; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, sister Wanda, brother Rodney and brother-in-law, Gordy Latriaille.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 6:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Monday from 5-6 PM at the funeral home. A second service will be held in King, WI in the spring.
