He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldean Bechtold and Minnie Bechtold (Newman); his brothers, Lynn and Morris Bechtold; his brothers-in-law, Bob Rist and Don Copeland; his nephew Chad Bechtold; and his nieces, Valerie Copeland and Tina Bechtold.
He is survived by: his close friend Jan Cobban; his daughter Shannon Fennell (Chris Littlejohn); his granddaughters, Shae Fennell (Brandon Pitts), Katelyn White (Wyatt) and Alexis Fennell; his great grandchildren, Pressley, Evaleah, Dawson and Eloise; and his siblings, Kevin Bechtold (Denise), Gloria Cameron (Steve Harpestad), Virginia Copeland, Sheila Engh (Reggie) and Coleen Rist.
