He was predeceased by : his parents, Gilman Thorson and Eleanor Thorson (Everson); his sister Evonne Reardon; and his nephew Jay Theman. He is survived by : his wife Suzie of Grand Forks, ND; his children, Jared Thorson (Chris) of Kenosha, WI, Rod Thorson (Marlys) of Elk River, MN and Jana Makovsky (Charlie) of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren, Courtney Brocker (Ben), Brianna Thome (Peter), Benjamin Thorson, Madison Makovsky and Tyler Thorson; and his great grandchildren, Everleigh and Esme Brocker.

Lyle requested that donations be directed to St Judes Children's Research Hospital, Ethos Home Health Care & Hospice, or United Lutheran Church.
