He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Abar and Colleen Abar (Moore); his son John Thorlacious; his siblings-in-law, Kelly Abar (Brennan) and Michael Buckley; and his nephew Ryan Abar.
He is survived by: his wife Penny Abar (Nagel); his siblings, Thomas Abar (Merilee), James Abar (Deb), Donald Abar, Dr. Robert Abar Timmons (Jessica), Jennie Buckley and Linda Abar (Timothy Wynne); and his aunt Sandra Moore (Haugen). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Amundson Funeral Home Chapel (2975 S 42nd St, Grand Forks, ND 58201). A memorial service was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
