He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gilliss and Gloria Gilliss (Topp); his brother Terry; his niece Megan Ware; his nephews, Tony French and Rodney Haakenson; his siblings-in-law, Dave Nelson, Jeffery Haakenson, Kyle Dockter, Mary Gilliss and Kimberly Seiler; and his mother-in-law Eileen Dockter.
He is survived by: his pet Jordy; his children, Stephanie Gilliss Jondahl (Dan) and Shane Gilliss; his grandchildren, Craig and Kimber Sherette; his child Tucker; his sisters, Theresa Nelson Carlson (Johnny) and Sandi Hoffman (Bob); his father-in-law James Dockter Sr.; and his brothers-in-law, James Dockter (Karla), Terry Dockter and Joe Seiler. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Gregory J Norman Funeral Chapel (2950 S Washington St, Grand Forks, ND 58201). A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
