It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Yvonne Bernadette Nelson (Grand Forks, North Dakota), who passed away on September 15, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harmidas Genereux and Agnes Genereux; her husband Ivan; her son Patrick; her daughter-in-law Debra; her grandson Michael James (MJ); her siblings, Gloria Genereux, Arlene Paxton, Carolyn Donahue, Janice Fortier, Luella Liychik and Gilbert Genereux; and her brothers-in-law, Lawrence Donahue, Ronald Fortier, Michael Liychik, Ray Nelson, Roy Nelson and Gene Nelson.

She is survived by: her brothers-in-law, Pete Kaiser and Ivan Nelson of Crookston, MN; her friends, Eva Buckmeier and Mary Joyce; her children, Greg Nelson (Julie), Kathy Nieuwsma, Pam Kreitinger (Dean), Michael Nelson (Lisa) and Lori Nelson (Rich Amos); her grandchildren, Jeffrey Nieuwsma (Christina), Amy Seidel (Dan), Julie Nieuwsma (Russ), Brandon Kreitinger (Kerri), Chad Kreitinger (Lauren), Jill Eberhard (Dan), Nicole Schumacher (Jason), Ben Rowerdink, Taylor Rowerdink, Brooke Carlson, Alyssa Nelson, Tony Nelson (Mikayla), Tyler Nelson (Maria), Nicholas Nelson (Miranda), Corey Kaltenberg (Tina), Shawn Kaltenberg (Amanda), Tiffany Neiss (Allen) and Lauren Taylor (Carson); her great grandchildren, Emma, Laurel Nelson, Kellan Schumacher, Elise, Quinn, Lainey, Parker Eberhard, Hugh, Chip Kreitinger, Asher, Auggie, Scottie Kreitinger, Maverick, Alison Seidel, Mila, Reagan Nieuwsma, Jadyn (Kordell), Jalyn, Jayse, Jamey, Jalen Barclay, Aubrey Schmaltz, Lily and Logan Kaltenberg; her sister Marcella Kaiser (Peter); her siblings-in-law, Vern Nelson (Jeanette), Candace Aamold (Greg), Marilyn Remme and Cheryl Grove; Lori Nelson (Jeff Wirtz). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church (1018 18th Ave S, Grand Forks, ND 58201). A Mass was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, and at Yvonne's request, memorials can be given in her name to Holy Family St. Mary's School, 1001 17th Avenue South, Grand Forks, ND 58201.
