He was predeceased by : his parents, Ejvin Mikkelsen and Jean Mikkelsen (Naset); his brother Douglas Mikkelsen; and his grandparents, Sievert, Karen Mikkelsen, Elmer and Elizabeth Naset.

He is survived by : his wife Caroline Mikkelsen (Roeder); his son Anthony Mikkelsen (Tricia); his stepchildren, Wendy Eggers (Jeremy), April Quistorff (Melvin) and Danny Roeder; his grandchildren, Bryan, Nicolas and Madison Mikkelsen; his stepgrandchildren, Damien Lugert, Brayden Heitkamp, Preston Eggers, Angelika, Katelynn Quistorff and Stella Roeder; his siblings, JoAnne Jorgenson (Jerome), Steve Mikkelsen and Mike Mikkelsen (Kris); and his pets, Kermit and Lily. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery (202 4th Ave NE, Hankinson, ND 58041).
