He was predeceased by: his parents, Constant Bitz and Katherine Bitz (Werlinger); his father-in-law Albert Frauenberg; his brothers-in-law, Jerry Mayfield, Kurt Courtney and Jerry Winkler; and his nephew Clint Bitz.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Bitz (Frauenberg) of LaMoure; his children, Kimberly Robbins (Nathan) of LaMoure, Kelli Just (Christof) of Berlin, Kari Tews (Joseph) of Rogers, MN and Kasey (Alissa Armstrong) of LaMoure; his grandchildren, Karly, Katrina, Cole Just, Mollie and Addie Robbins; his siblings, Betty Pratt (Ron), Larry Bitz, Shirley Dietrich (Bob), Bernadette Mayfield, Mary Winkler, Carol Zetocha (Dale), Janet Bitz, Geraldine Courtney and Rick Bitz; and his mother-in-law Ilene Frauenberg.
