He was predeceased by : his wife Bonnie Gustafson; and his sisters, Ardys Schafer (John A.) and Ramona Roper (Jeff). He is survived by : his son Marty; his daughter-in-law Faye Zempel (Johnson); his grandchildren, Desaree Zempel (Kyle Rosenau) and Cody Zempel; his great grandchild Cash; his brother Aaron Zempel (Sharon Milas); and his close friend Laurel Moser.

Memorials are preferred to the Make a Wish Foundation.
