He was predeceased by: his mother Louise Schwartzbauer (Gartner); his sons-in-law, Russell Bendish and Mike Ripplinger; his siblings, Robert Schwartzbauer (Bertha), George Schwartzbauer (Alice) and Frances Dauenhauer (Gene); his brother-in-law Larry Swap; his in-laws, Liborious, Rose Friesz, Josephine Hopfauf (Leo), Paul Friesz (Eileen), Viola Friesz and Leonard Friesz (Geraldine); Edward.
He is survived by: his father George Sr. Schwartzbauer; his wife Shirley Friesz; his children, Kathy Krance (Roger), Bonnie Ripplinger (Terry Bienek), Rod Schwartzbauer (Sharon), Denise Sheldon (Tim), Debbie Ova (Bryan) and Leann Bergquist (Jason); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Krance (Ben), Kolton Krance (Scotta), Brandon Ripplinger (Amber), Jordan Ripplinger (Brenna), Tori Haugen (Rod), Chelsi Montplaisir (Marc), Emily Lassle (Kyle), Richard Bendish (Taylor), Anna Bendish, Kyle Ova (Erica), Brodie and Jake Bergquist; his sister Dorothy Swap; and his brother-in-law Peter Friesz (Josephine). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weigel Funeral Home (309 4th Ave NW, Mandan, ND 58554). A rosary was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A vigil service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Christ the King Catholic Church (505 10th Ave NW, Mandan, ND 58554).
