He was predeceased by: his parents, Hadley Verwest and Margit Verwest (Raaen); his parents-in-law, Knut and Alma Soholt; his brother Nolan Verwest; his siblings-in-law, Maxine Strom, Karen Gilbertson, Linda Lande, Mervin Karlstad and James Lande; and his nephews, Todd and Bruce Karlstad.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Soholt; his children, Shari Palmer (Keith) of Sharon, ND, Scott Verwest (Valerie) of Argusville, ND and Mark Verwest (Susan) of Portland, ND; his grandchildren, Brady Palmer (Hilary), Shawn Palmer (Lyndsay Burns), Taylor Cigelske (Ben), Hailey Strauss (Joe), Paige Verwest (Taylor Kyllo), Jacob, Justin and Hadley Verwest; his great grandchildren, Owen, Harrison, Quinn Palmer, Rory, Riley Cigelske, Grady and Brooks Strauss; his brother Hadley Verwest; and his siblings-in-law, Donna Jean Verwest and Donald Gilbertson. He is also survived by eight nieces.
