He was predeceased by: his parents, Olga Thykeson (Rud) and Ebenhard Thykeson; his wife Janice Evanson; his siblings, Kenny Thykeson and Ruth Hagen; his siblings-in-law, Shirley Thykeson, Deana Marks, Mike Balstad and Merle Evanson; and his son-in-law Ken Gage.

He is survived by: his children, Bradley Thykeson (Karla) of Portland, ND, Nancy Hull (Ron) of Libby, MT and Michelle Cota (Art) of Gridley, CA.; his grandchildren, Greg Thykeson (Samantha), Stephani Teske (Lucas), Ross Thykeson (Amber), Samuel Cota, Ty Cota and Kennison Cota; his sister Kathryn Erickson (Leon); and his siblings-in-law, Marvin Hagen, Dale Evanson (Arlene), Lyle Evanson, Wayne Evanson (Jan), Bruce Evanson, Brian Evanson and Bonnie Balstad (Bonnie Evanson).
