She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Stenslie and Helen Stenslie Malo (Mentges); and her brother Charles Stenslie. She is survived by: her children, Mark Bakke of Augusta, GA, Brian Bakke (Jannet) of Rochester, MN and Susan Braun (Stephen) of McVille, ND; and her grandchildren, Karin Bakke, William Bakke, Matthew Bakke, Brent Richardson (Juliann), Ramsey Phibbs, Jenna Gorman (Chris), Sonia Mizell, Andrea Brooks (Jake), Kjersti Eilers (Jason), Stefan Braun (Sarah), Joseph Braun, Maria Bach (Grayden), Austin Braun, Timothy Braun (Adriana) and Anthony Braun. She is also survived by thirty great-grandchildren.
Joan and Elmer were active members of the parish, and both of their pioneer ancestor families were founding members of the first log church building, which required a donation of $5.00 and two logs.
