He was predeceased by: his parents, John Stiefel and Frieda Stiefel (Zeiszler); his former wife Jean Richter; and his siblings, Ivan, Marvin, Betty Johnson and Jeanette Schwindt.
He is survived by: his wife Avis; his children, Monty Stiefel (Sissy) of Garrison, ND and Cindy Gorley (John) of Pick City, ND; and his stepchildren, Sonja Moe (Curtiss) and Shawn Thorson of Velva, ND. He is also survived by three grandsons and one granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; other extended family and numerous friends.
