He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hoelscher and Daisy Hoelscher (Lade); his wife Shirley Wherley; his daughter Sheree Mertz; his grandson Garrett Hoelscher; his son-in-law Ray Mertz (Nicole Connelly-Hoelscher); and his siblings, Albert, Stella, Mabel, Marie, Ella, August, George and Betty.
He is survived by: his sons, Wayne Hoelscher (Candis), Kenneth Hoelscher (Karla) of Oakes, ND and Bruce Hoelscher; his grandchildren, Shawna Connelly-Hoelscher, Sheldon Hoelscher (Megan), Amanda Arnson (Wayne), Ernie Bauer (Kathy), Darrell Bauer, Jodi Walker (James), Brandon Hoelscher, Izaiah Hoelscher and Cecilia Buelow (Marshal); his great grandchildren, Faith Arnson, Raylan, Ahnya, Kadyn Hoelscher, Cameron, Elizabeth Bauer, Julien Walker, Brynlee, Oaklyn Hoelscher and Kollyns Buelow; his great great grandchildren, Marie Rose and Marcia Howe; and his sister Anna Jundt.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Thomas Family Funeral Home (304 Main St S, Minot, ND 58701). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church (521 N Davis St, Burlington, ND 58722). A burial was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Rosehill Memorial Park (700 11th Ave SE, Minot, ND 58701).
