He was predeceased by: his mother Sally Abelseth; his wife Betty Lou Abelseth; his grandson Joseph Nalty; his siblings, Harold Abelseth, Norman Abelseth, Gudrun Romness and Alta Swanson; and his sons-in-law, Craig Gust and Loren Northagen.
He is survived by: his father Hans Abelseth; his daughters, Nancy Sample (James) of Minot, Candace Abelseth of Minot, Marilyn Poirier (Alex) of Roatan Honduras and Wendy Gust of Minot; his sister Arlene Silliman; his grandchildren, Frederick Sample, Spencer Sample, Nicole Brown (Kristopher), Makinzy Jo Northagen Lobo (Ivan), Tara Nalty and Casey Northagen; and his great grandchildren, Justin, Nicholas, Machaela, Cora, Cory, Cody Sample, James, Kennadee Gagne, Violeta Jo Northagen Lobo, Rosalinda Marie, Loren and Leonardo. He is also survived by his family, friends, and daughters.
Memorials are preferred to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund.
