He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Wheeler and Martha Wheeler (Aalund). He is survived by: his wife Betty Ann Olsen; his daughters, Deborah Ann Wheeler and Pamela Kay Burkardt Minot (Edward); his grandchildren, Blythe Burkardt (Paul Notareschi), Caitlyn Burkardt (Sean Shanahan), Maren Burghardt (Thomas) and Peter Tashi Hackett; his brother Ralph (Jacqueline); and his great grandchildren, Ailyn Burghardt, Bridger Roan Shanahan and Rochester. He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was president of the first board of the Minot Public School Foundation, was a board member and president of the Minot Area Development Corporation, president and rodeo chairman of the Minot Y's Men's Club.
