He was predeceased by: his wife Irene Gratz (Pfeiler); his parents, Ralph Gratz and Gertrude Gratz; and his siblings, Adam Gratz, Alfred Gratz, Tom Gratz and Mildred Marcotte (Gratz).

He is survived by: his brothers, Don Gratz and Eric Gratz (Sue); his children, Allen Gratz (Deb), Jerry Gratz (Kim), Brian Gratz (Leslie) and Karen Helleckson (Brent); and his grandchildren, Crystalynn Larson (Ward), Curtis Gratz (Keri), Nathan Gratz (Jennifer), Neal Gratz (Lindsy), Kenneth Gratz (Laurie), Gabe Gratz (Tara), Abby Siewert (Ryan), Aimee Morris (Paul), Stephanie Helleckson and Jacob Helleckson.
