He was predeceased by: his wife Esther Marie Wolf; his daughters, Cherie Nicolai and Valerie Blend (Bruce); his parents, Herbert Hoesel and Verna Hoesel; his stepmother Clara Hoesel; his siblings, Norbert, Jerald Hoesel (Jenny) and Lorraine Henke (Dick); his brother-in-law Allyn Lennie; and his great grandchildren, Gabriel Crist and Kyle Whetsel.
He is survived by: his sons, Keith Hoesel (Roberta) of New Salem, Michael Hoesel (Joann) of Mandan and David Hoesel (Susan) of Dickinson; his son-in-law Stephen Nicolai of Milnor, ND; his sister Darlene Lennie of New Salem; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Hoesel of New Salem and Rose Wolf of Mandan, ND. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren.
