He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Young; and his aunt Helen Ketterling. He is survived by: his mother Rosa Young (Burkhardt) of Sioux Falls, SD; his wife Tracy Mattson of Park River, ND; his son Michael Young of Park River, ND; and his sister Josephine Bottenhagen of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Park River Ambulance or to First Care Health Center of Park River.
