He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Gillespie and Alvira Gillespie (Mageli); his wife Marlys; and his siblings, Janice Keef and Robert Gillespie.

He is survived by: his children, Jamie Gillespie (Jesse Reiter) and Derek Gillespie (Betsey) of Northwood, ND. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
