He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Nelson and Tilda Nelson (Hanson); his siblings, Gaylord and Beverly; his brothers-in-law, Leonard Holzworth, Glendell Weisenburger and Jerome Wiest; his niece Brenda Wassberg (Nelson); and his great-nephew Gary Lee Nelson.
He is survived by: his siblings, Phyllis Nelson of Cheyenne, WY, Ernie (ArVilla Nelson), Florine (Dean Auch), Betty Weisenburger of Missoula, MT, Dennis Nelson of Mesa, AZ, Paul (Dee Nelson) and Connie (Pat O'Neill); and his sister-in-law Ruby Nelson of Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by 25 nieces and nephews and numerous extended family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Eastgate Funeral Service (3117 E Century Ave, Bismarck, ND 58503). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Bethany Lutheran Church (216 Charles St, Robinson, ND 58478).
