She was predeceased by: her cousin Corey Nelson; her grandparents, John, Theresa Schaan, Myron and Arlene Fried; and her uncle Ken Schaan.

She is survived by: her parents, Mark Schaan and Sue Schaan; her child Long; her siblings, Joel of Minneapolis, Toby Schaan of Minneapolis and Mari Schaan of Las Vegas; and her nieces, Simone and Francesca Schaan of Minneapolis. She is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Utilizing her degree, she traveled overseas to China and Vietnam, and worked in New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Portland, Oregon, until the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 brought her back home to Rugby to be closer to family.
