He was predeceased by: his parents, Casper Blessum and Helen Blessum (Cornell); his grandparents, Hans and Bessie Blessum (Berg); his sister Beverly; and his brothers-in-law, Ben Bakkum and Lee Smutzler.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Bickler; his children, Brian (Sue) of Rugby, Jody (Colette) of Danville, Jim (Kris) of Rugby, Laura Swanson (Mike) of Rugby, Stuart of Rugby and Alan (Karleen) of Rugby; and his sisters, Marlys Ostrem (Harold), Diane Mittelstedt (Herb) and Lois Smutzler. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
The family prefers all memorials to go to Little Flower School in Rugby.
