He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert M. Petersen and Frances Petersen (Hansen); his daughter Betty Jo; his son-in-law Art Miller; and his great grandchild Colt.
He is survived by: his children, Jerrie Barnette (Richard), Terrie Petersen, Billie Miller (Chris) and Tony Petersen; his grandchildren, Joshua Petersen (Heather), Ashley Jones (Chris), Tyler Barnette, Chad Fritz (Katherine), Cody Fritz, Brooklyn Peterson, London Schick (Riley), Paytin Miller, Damion Petersen, Skyllar Petersen and Cash Petersen; and his siblings, Sandra Reeves (Ron), David Eshenko (Sandy) and Alvearna Kowalski. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
