James Grannis Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Grannis of Stanton, North Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 20, 2025 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though James may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron Grannis and Laverne Grannis (Mayme Brewster); his wife Shirley Piatz; his in-laws, Joseph and Stella Piatz; and his son James Grannis (Jimmy).
He is survived by: his son Joseph Grannis (Dawn); his grandchildren, Amber Thorne (Zach), Tiffany Grannis and Jordan Grannis (Ryan Illies); his brother Terry Grannis (Esther); and his sister-in-law Eileen Norenberg (Karen Miller). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
