He was predeceased by: his parents, Severin Sather and Sophie Sather (Anderson); his wife Margaret Skaar; his sisters, Anna Quick (Jim), Lillian Erickstad (Myron), Ellen Wilhelmi (Joe), Ines Tyler (Oscar), Velma DeFrates (Ed), Gladys Provance (Bill) and Elsie; his siblings-in-law, Howard Skaar and Norma Skaar; and his son-in-law Dr. Patrick Devig.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Sather (Laurie) of Fargo, ND, Mary Ann Devig of Grand Forks, ND and Janelle McMillin (Randy) of Grygla, MN; and his grandchildren, Vienna Devig, Megan Hillius (Garret), Ashley Holland (Connor), Jared Schaefer (Ashley), Brenna Olson (Isaac), Hailea Page (Trevor), Hunter McMillin (Karlee) and Hudson McMillin (Kyla). He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
