She was predeceased by: her father Robert Melin; her husband James "Jim" Mathiason; her brother Kenneth Melin; her son-in-law Al Hanson; and her great-nephew Wayde Mohagen.
She is survived by: her mother Arvilla Melin (Keith); her children, Kristy Leier (Dan), Carrie Jacobson (Brad), Aaron Ramsdell (Billijo), Michelle Simonson (Chad), Alexander, Mardelle Buechler (Barry), Harvey, Stephanie Striegel (Sam), Hilton, Jacque Mathiason of Minneapolis, MN and Melanie Hanson of Dassel, MN; and her siblings, Carol Mohagen (Donald) and Dan Melin (Susie). She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
