He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Carlson and Alta Holt Carlson; and his siblings, Fritz Carlson, Arthur Carlson, Delores Johnson and Connie Pithey.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Hendrickson; his children, Chris Carlson (Brenda) of Fergus Falls, MN and Cheri Wahl (Scott) of Litchfield, MN; his grandchildren, Katherine Osvold (Jason), Cassandra Carlson (Dominic Walker), Cody Carlson, Braeden Wahl, Brynne Wahl and Bauer Wahl; his great grandchild Ezra Walker; his grandchildren, Bailey and Preston Walker; his half-sisters, LaRae Odegard (Randy), Denise Seeling (Randy), Vanessa Odegard (Steve) and Erin Olson (Richard); and his sisters, Judy Brenna (David), Ione Foley (James) and Marsha Hendrickson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
