He was predeceased by: his parents, Meinhardt Skaley and Gertrude Skaley (Dalos); his sister Lois; his brother-in-law Raymond Korus; his sister Janice Seilinger; and his brother-in-law Kerry Helm.

He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Helm of Mercer, ND; his son Curtis (Mary) of Bismarck; his granddaughter Gracie; his stepchildren, Payton, Braxton Wetzel and Jeremy (Kayla) of Taylor, ND; his stepgrandchildren, Hayden and Mckenli; his sisters, Marlys Anderson (Randall) and Mavis Orvis (Mike); his parents-in-law, Arlington and Phyllis Helm; and his siblings-in-law, Keith Helm (Jodi) and Cheryl Helm. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church. A prayer will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
