He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Daniel Schmelka and BettyAnne Schmelka (King); his uncles, Victor King, Jeffrey King and Barclay Lennen; and his aunt Patricia King.
He is survived by: his children, Anna, Adam Schmelka, Nova and Howard; his close friend Valerie Moxness; his siblings, Christine Nagel and Dan Schmelka (Katy); and his nieces and nephews, Danny, Francie and Sara. He is also survived by her children, and grandsons.
