With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard L Nelson of Williston, North Dakota, who passed away on July 22, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Nelson and Anna Nelson (Stangeland); his significant other Margo Claycomb; his son Barry Nelson; and his siblings-in-law, Jean Nelson and Lyle White.

He is survived by: his friends, Red, King Richard, Columbo, Professor, Governor and Richard; his children, Rianna Brunelle (Adam) of Williston, ND, Cindy Wolery (Michael) of Windsor, CO and Eric Nelson (Kara) of Williston, ND; his siblings, David Nelson of Williston, ND, Carol White of Williston, ND and Mary Engelbrecht (Dale) of Williston, ND; and his grandchildren, Kasey Franklin (Sam), AJ Brunelle, Rylin Brunelle, Emma Worley, Liam Wolery, Addison Nelson and Thor Nelson.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home and Cremation Services (112 4th St E, Williston, ND 58801). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at the Riverview Cemetery (815 9th Ave W, Williston, ND 58801).
