He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Schmidt and Katherine Schmidt (Schwab); and his siblings, Betty Gamradt, Joann Miller, Phyllis Schmidt, Mike Schmidt, Stanley D. Schmidt, Dennett Schmidt and Pius Schmidt.
He is survived by: his child Wally; his wife Merle Schmidt of Crosby, ND; and his sons, Wesley Schmidt (Lynda) of Great Falls, MT and Stan Schmidt (Debbie) of Crosby, ND. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
