He was predeceased by: his father Arnold Heitkamp; his wife Mary Lou Heitkamp (Breuer) of John's Catholic Church; his parents-in-law, Mary Ann and Bernard Breuer; his brother Todd Heitkamp; his siblings-in-law, Tom Zaeske, Dale Breuer, Martha Heitkamp and Elizabeth Breuer; and his niece Emily Heitkamp.
He is survived by: his mother Melba Heitkamp (Nagel) of Mesa, AZ; his children, Jody Hegle (Josh) of West Fargo, ND, Lori Odegard (Erik) of Pahrump, NV, Lindsey Stenson (Matt) of Lidgerwood, ND and Joe Heitkamp of Wyndmere, ND; his grandchildren, Peyton, Avery, Jace, Aubrie, Addyson, Ella, Emery, Marley, Haven, Easton and Ritter; his brothers, Jeff Heitkamp of Fort Worth, TX, Doug Heitkamp (Debby) of Barney, ND and Chris Heitkamp of Mesa, AZ; his siblings-in-law, Don Breuer (Colleen) of Fargo, ND, Duane Breuer (Helen) of Hubertus, WI and Ruth Zaeske of Fargo, ND; Beth Madson (Scott) of Gilbert, AZ. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home (403 3rd Ave, Milnor, ND 58060).
