He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Buhr and Jennie "Janna" Buhr (Jurgens); his former wife Gereldine Buhr; his wife Marie Buhr; his siblings, Leonard Buhr, Arnold Buhr (Lois), Marie Schuster (William) and Edna Arntt (Richard); his siblings-in-law, Willard Lenners, Arthur Wallman, John Lieneman and Emile Folkerts (Elmer); and his stepson Donovan DeBuhr.

He is survived by: his sons, Dean Buhr (Carol) of Adams, James Buhr (Lisa) of Adams and Scott Buhr (Jody) of Adams; his stepdaughters, LaDonna VanEngen (Mervin) of Lincoln, Patti Busboom (Wayne) of Beatrice and Cynthia Pittman of Panama; his grandchildren, Katie Miller (Pete) of Lodgepole, Tony Buhr (Mindy) of Adams, Jamie Sejkora (Seth) of Lincoln, Andy Buhr (Sierra) of Adams, Tyler Buhr (Natalie) of Adams, Bailey Huls (Blake) of Cortland, Courtney Sedlacek (Brandon) of Adams and Jacob Buhr (Parker) of Adams; his sisters, Erma Schlake (Larry) of Cortland and Genevieve Lenners of Cortland; his sisters-in-law, Karen Buhr of Beatrice and Marlene Wallman of Beatrice; and his close friend Kenny Miller of Adams. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and step greatgrandchildren.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the family for future designation.
