She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Oman and Lettie Oman; her husband Don Swanson; her parents-in-law, Carl and Ruth Swanson; and her brother-in-law Russell Brodhead.

She is survived by: her children, Pauline Norman (Duane) and Donald Lee Swanson (Marilyn); her grandchildren, Janelle Weitzenkamp (Jon), Jonathan Norman (Desirae), Jamie Watson (David), Justin Swanson (Mandy) and Grant Showalter-Swanson (Connor); and her sister Frances Brodhead. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
