It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Howard Leo Gappa of Ashton, Nebraska, who passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Gappa and Florence "Tina" Gappa (Ziola); his siblings, LeRoy Gappa and JoAnn Gappa; and his brother-in-law Delbert Jonak.
He is survived by: his children, Nick (Lindsay Gappa), Pat (Amy Gappa), Andy Gappa of Ashton, Candice Gappa (Josh Jensen) and Maureen "Reenie" Gappa (Aaron Sohl); his grandchildren, Jaymeson Gappa, Ashlyn Gappa and Jake Gappa; his great grandchild Enzleigh Gappa; and his sisters, Renee Jonak of Ashton, Deloris (Jim Stanczyk), Sharon (Dennis Pedersen), Maxine Lewandowski of St. Paul and Linda (Jerry Polski).
