He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley McCumber and Marie McCumber (Wilcox) of Brocksburg; his stepfather John Hansen; his brother Tim McCumber; and his father-in-law Bob Koci.

He is survived by: his wife Juli McCumber (Koci) of Atkinson; his sons, Brady McCumber of Stuart and Cory McCumber (Amelia) of Atkinson; his grandchild Lennon McCumber; his siblings, Elaine Poessnecker (Jim) of Stuart, Rhonda Skrdla (John) of Stuart, Jan McGrath of Atkinson, Myra Schmaderer (Mike) of Lincoln, Dan McCumber (Karla) of Joliet Montana, Penny Schaaf of Lincoln, Greg Hansen (Laurie) of Amelia and Lana Dummer (Ryan) of Aurora; his mother-in-law Sylvia Koci of Chambers; and his sisters-in-law, Anita Johnson of Howells and Joan Denker (Don) of O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the Atkinson Fire and Rescue Department or to the family for later designation.
