He is survived by: his wife Alayne Olson (Rader); his children, Rhonda Johnson (Keith) of Orlando, Doug (Janna) of Ord, NE and Mark (Sissy) of Denver; his grandchildren, Drew (Sarah), Lauren, Emily, Nathan, Ben, Joe, Colette, Anna, Caleb and Samuel; his great grandchildren, Victoria and Walter; and his brother Wayne (Betty).

Memorials may be made in care of the family to be determined at a later date.

“We remember well John's kindness and welcoming newcomers to the Aurora Evangelical Free Church. He was "quick on his feet" with his puns, generating laughter from those who heard him. He had a beautiful voice, leading singing at church and being part of a men's quartet. Along with Alayne, he entertained people at their house with meals and conversation. John was a caring, loving father and grandfather and will be sorely missed by those he left behind...but is now in heaven with Jesus.”
