With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Verniel Jeanette Schmunk of Bayard, Nebraska, born in Oakdale, Louisiana, who passed away on September 25, 2022 at the age of 79. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Verniel Jeanette Schmunk to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by : her parents, Allie Bertrand and Vernie Estelle Bertrand (Johnson); her husband Jake; her nieces, Dawn and Tara; and her nephew Michael.
She is survived by : her grandson Troy; her children, Christine "Cricket" Ziegler (Herman) and Troy Schmunk (Candace) of Bayard; her grandchildren, Ashlyn Patton, Jesse Patton of Fort Collins, CO, Mitch Carpenter of Bayard, Jessica Nesbitt (Zach) of Bayard, Melanie Dalbey (Kevin) of Bayard, Nicole Schledewitz (Tyson) of Bayard and Tyson Schmunk (Anna) of Bayard; her great grandchildren, Leah, Lexi, Layni, Lindy Nesbitt, Mason, Paxton Dalbey, Evie Patton, Natalie Schmunk and Baby Schledewitz; her sister Jane Crain (Jimmy) of Nome, TX; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Looney (Jim), Pat Mimms (Don), Dixie Schmunk of Bayard and Shirley Schmunk. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bayard Volunteer Fire Department, as she was thankful for all they do for our community.
