He was predeceased by : his parents, Jesse Ames and Evelyn Ames (Wilhelm); his sister Connie Janssen; his siblings-in-law, DeeAnn Ames and Dennis Prebyl; and his niece Renda Husa.

He is survived by : his daughter Trudy Baker (Russell) of Lincoln; his siblings, David Ames of Norfolk and Judy Prebyl; his brother-in-law Robert Janssen; and his nieces and nephews, Dena Janssen of Beatrice, Tammy Waltke (Mike) of Clatonia, Scott Janssen (Keri) of Beatrice, Brad Ames (Suzann) of Norfolk and Kevin Ames (Jenny) of Norfolk.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice in care of the mortuary.
