He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Ashley; his parents, LuAnn Gay (Daub) and Roland Gay; his brother Duane Gay; his girlfriend Ruth White; and his former wife LaVeta Schank.
He is survived by: his sons, Craig Gay (Sheryl) of Beatrice, Mike Gay (Sharon) of Lincoln and Darryl Gay of Maryville, MO; and his grandchildren, Megan Kopf (Mike), Michelle Bowhay, Jamie Maxwell (Sam), David Gay (Hannah), Jessica Weakland (Shawn), Trisha Wendland (Nick), Brittney Temple (Lonnie) and Courtney Wade (T. J.). He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family's choice.
