He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Ward and Susan Ward (Geiber); and his brother Larry Ward. He is survived by: his wife Bettie Ackerman; his children, Travis Ward (Shelly) of Lincoln, Dawn Lee Smith (Nathan Sr.) of Fairbury and Blaze Claassen of Kentucky; his grandchildren, Nathan Smith Jr., Jordan Smith, Paige Smith, Jerico Ward and Taylor Ward; and his great grandchildren, Oaklyn Smith and Sophia Wilson.
